The Historic Droughts Drought Inventory brings together cross-sectoral descriptions of drought and water scarcity in the UK. These periods have been derived using the projects historic reconstructions of daily river flow data and derived from this, the Historic Standardised Streamflow Index (SSI).
The pages, as well as bringing together information from a number of sectors describing the antecedent conditions, the impacts on hydrology and on people, give way to a more human narrative with oral recollections from people that lived through and were affected by water scarcity.
