Professional summary

Research Interests

  • Innovation in air pollutant measurement methods for reactive gases & aerosols. Development and achievement of design registration for low-cost air sampling approaches (ALPHA® and DELTA® methods).
  • Experiment design and evidence strategies for air pollution monitoring. Development and assessment of local to national air monitoring experiments and networks. Leadership of the National Ammonia Monitoring Network and Acid Gas and Aerosol Monitoring Network (for Defra) and continent-scale assessments (e.g. European NitroEurope DELTA network, GCRF South Asian Nitrogen Hub).
  • Interdisciplinary research linking air quality impacts to ecosystems indicators. UK lead for integrated reporting of monitoring data and indicators (NECR, Part 5), through establishment of APIENS (Air Pollution Impacts on Ecosystem Networks).
  • Field deployment of atmospheric chemistry measurements
  • UK member to the European standards Working Group 11 on diffusive sampling methods, including lead on atmospheric ammonia measurement methods (CEN/TC264/WG11)
