My main research interests are in hydrology, with a focus on hydrological trends, meteorological recording, and hydrometric data management, analysis and interpretation. 

Brief CV

Stephen has five years of experience as a hydrologist at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and is involved in data acquisition, quality control and data dissemination for the UK National River Flow Archive (NRFA). In this role, he contributes to the timely updating of the Archive and subsequent data releases and strives to implement improvements of the utility of the data. As Outreach Coordinator for the NRFA, he works to distribute the data and raise awareness of the archive and its developments. He also provides analytical commentary for the National Hydrological Monitoring Programme authoring the ‘Hydrological Summary for the UK’, and other publications including peer-reviewed articles and blog posts. Stephen is also working on UK trend analyses for both high and low flows using the UK Reference Hydrometric Network and the wider network of UK gauges. Previously he worked as Project Officer for the RCUK Drought & Water Scarcity Programme managing stakeholders’ inputs from several institutions and planning events to showcase programme outcomes. Within the Strengthening Thailand's Agricultural drought Resilience project, Stephen worked as the data acquisition lead to procure and process the required datasets from various sources. Stephen also manages the Wallingford Meteorological Station and sits on the Secretariat as Data Advisory Group lead for the UK Environmental Observation Framework.
