Research Interests

Steve works as a hydrologist at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology and is the Data Acquisition Coordinator for the UK National River Flow Archive (NRFA) responsible for bringing together hydrometric data from a number of sources, managing the quality control process and disseminating the data to the NRFA's user community.  He also provides analytical commentary for the National Hydrological Monitoring Programme authoring the ‘Hydrological Summary for the UK’ and UK Hydrological Outlook and other publications including peer-reviewed articles and blog posts.  Steve is also working on UK trend analyses for both high and low flows using the UK Reference Hydrometric Network and the wider network of UK gauges.  Within the Reference Observatory of Basins for International hydrological climate change detection (ROBIN) project, Steve leads WP2 Data, working on the network criteria for the ROBIN Network, and acquiring the river flow data from global partners.  Steve also manages the Wallingford Meteorological Station and sits on the Secretariat as Data Advisory Group lead for the UK Environmental Observation Framework.
