Brief CV

I joined UKCEH in August 2020, after over 30 years working in hydrometry at the Environment Agency, where I led on tools and techniques for river discharge monitoring, liaison with the science community and international collaboration.

My main motivations are finding better ways to do things, primarily monitoring hydrometric variables such as river discharge and precipitation.

Projects I am currently working on include:

  • Flood and Drought Research Infrastructure project
  • Design and development of a surface water monitoring network for a Mediterranean country
  • Investigating the potential of satellite imagery for flood monitoring
  • Development of tools and techniques to improve river monitoring capabilities, while reducing costs and improving safety
