Professional summary
Megan works as a Quantitative Ecologist within the Population Ecology group at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. Her main area of interest is integrating data‑scraping methods into existing workflows to build richer, more complete datasets and enhance the value of citizen‑science contributions. This approach supports more rigorous analyses of species dynamics, strengthening the ability of models to analyse long‑term population trends with greater confidence.
Megan is currently analysing field datasets to produce inputs for GLM models that estimate longitudinal spatial indices, helping to assess how pesticide exposure influences species‑level biodiversity. She is also currently formatting and preparing data on Usutu and Chikungunya viruses for upload to the VecTrait database, creating an example dataset that demonstrates effective use of the HUB for disease‑trait data management. Alongside this, she supports fieldwork on the Isle of May and Inchkeith by identifying individual shags through their coloured leg rings. She also analyses the diets of various seabird species by identifying fish species from their otoliths.
