Professional summary
Mario started his professional life as an accountant but soon realised he was interested in science applied to nature, agriculture and the environment. While working in applied problems in these fields he learned the importance of statistics, computing and data analysis for making informed decisions in many disciplines.
Mario is interested in statistics and computing methods for improving the understanding of our interaction with the natural environment as well as the implications of this relationship. He has a PhD in statistics from the University of Manchester, where he worked on "Smoothing splines with unknown change-points in responses for longitudinal and spatial data.”
He is keen on teaching and helping others to understand and overcome any fear they have of these statistics and computing and has his own website detailing his work.
