We are pleased to announce that Professor James Bullock and Dr Chris Huntingford of UKCEH have appeared on this year’s Highly Cited Researchers list. This is based on papers globally that rank in the top one per cent by citations for scientific field and publication year, demonstrating significant research influence among authors’ peers.
James, an ecologist whose work is improving our understanding of habitat restoration and rewilding, has been recognised in the cross-field category. Chris, a climate modeller whose research focuses on the impacts of changes in atmospheric greenhouse gas emissions on Earth systems, features in the geosciences field.
Professor James Bullock said: “At UKCEH, we are committed to delivering excellent research that informs policy-makers and practitioners, while also driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of environmental science. These awards highlight the real-world impact of our work.”
Dr Chris Huntingford said: "UKCEH provides space for researchers to prosper, and this achievement could not have occurred without such support. We do aspire, collectively, to provide in a timely fashion, key information on expected climate change and its impacts over the decades ahead".
The pair have also appeared on the Highly Cited Researchers list, which is produced by analytics company Clarivate, in previous years.
In total, around 7,000 individuals – an estimated 0.1% of researchers globally – appear on the 2025 list, which is available on the Clarivate website.
