CEH is committed to openness, transparency and effective communication in our handling of all requests for information.

Under the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) anyone can request information about what we do and how we do it. Some of our information falls under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR), which provides broadly similar access rights to FOIA but relates specifically to information about the environment.

NERC, our parent body and the legal entity under the Act, operates a publication scheme in support of its commitments under FOI and EIR legislation. For more information, please click here.

To help us, please outline your request as clearly as possible, providing any relevant dates, organisations or names, and tell us whether you would like to receive the information in hard copy or electronically.

We aim to provide as much information as possible free of charge, however we reserve the right to charge fees in accordance with the Freedom of Information & Data Protection (Appropriate Limit & Fees) Regulation 2004. CEH follows the current NERC guidance on charging under the Environmental Information Regulations 2004.
