We measure our carbon footprint on an annual basis, using 2023 as our baseline year. This provides a clear and consistent picture of the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions generated by our activities over time.
We selected 2023 as our base year because it is the most recent year for which we have complete data, and it reflects how we operate following the changes brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Our emissions have been calculated in line with internationally recognised standards, including the GHG Protocol Corporate and Value Chain Standards and guidance from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). These frameworks ensure our reporting is transparent, robust and comparable with other organisations.
Using these data, we have developed a Pathway to Net Zero, aligned with climate science and the global goal of limiting warming to 1.5°C. This covers emissions from our direct operations, purchased energy, and wider activities across our value chain.
We will continue to measure and publish our emissions each year. This will help us track our progress, improve the accuracy of our data over time, and ensure we remain accountable as we work towards our Net Zero targets.
