This section applies to you when you donate to the UKCEH. This privacy notice will inform you as to how we look after your personal data when you donate to the UKCEH.

Purpose of process

Your personal data will be processed for the purpose related to:

  • processing of your donation and Gift Aid
  • verify any financial transactions
  • update you with important administrative messages about your donation, an event, or services or goods you have requested
  • complying with the Charities (Protection and Social Investment) Act 2016 and follow the recommendations of the official regulator of charities, the Charity Commission, which require us to identify and verify supporters who make major gifts so we can assess risks
  • keeping a record of your relationship with us
  • if you opt-in to receiving communications from us, we will retain your data for this purpose. You may choose to unsubscribe from any or all communications from us at any time

Where you have given consent to the processing of your personal data for one or more specific purposes; where individuals are under the age of 13 parental consent will be required.

Where it is necessary for the performance of contract with UKCEH.

Where it is necessary for the legitimate interests of UKCEH. Our legitimate interests includes:

  • to notify you of how your money is spent
  • to keep you updated

Data sharing

  • third party processors including:
    • JustGiving
      They are authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). JustGiving will process your donation, manage any Gift Aid, and commits to ensuring the UKCEH receives your money quickly and efficiently

    • Stripe
      They process payment made via debit/credit card, according to the Payment Card Industry Security Standards

    • GoCardless
      They capture and record the details you provided to set up a direct debit, according to BACS

If you have opted in to add Gift Aid, your data will be shared with HMRC to enable the gift aid to be processed

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law (for example, to comply with applicable laws, regulations and codes of practice or in response to a valid request from a competent authority).

Retention period

UKCEH retains your personal information only for the time period necessary for the purpose of holding the data. Your personal data obtained by way of consent will be deleted if you withdraw your consent.
