We have a long history of investigating, monitoring and modelling environmental change, generating evidence-driven solutions to complex environmental challenges. Watch our video to find out more about how our science is having a positive impact.
About the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH)
The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology is a world-leading independent research institute, carrying out excellent environmental science with impact.

Meeting the Climate Minister at Reset Connect
We were delighted to meet Minister for Climate Kerry McCarthy MP at the flagship sustainability event, Reset Connect, during London Climate Action Week.
Volunteers make interesting findings in pollinator counts
The latest annual report of the UK Pollinator Monitoring Scheme (PoMS), coordinated by UKCEH has been published during Insect Week 2025. The scheme engages thousands of citizen scientists to record insects on surveys across the UK countryside and gardens.

Results from on-farm trials of nature-friendly agriculture
Trials led by UKCEH show farming methods that support nature improve both biodiversity and crop yields but more extensive measures may require increased government subsidies to become as profitable as conventional intensive agriculture.
Our ambition
Our ambition is to make the world a better place through science addressing climate change, promoting biodiversity, and creating sustainable ecosystems.
