Erica Zaja

Erica Zaja is an International Relations Coordinator and Environmental Scientist. Erica helps develop and strengthen international partnerships that support environmental research, innovation, and policy impact. Her work focuses on building collaborations with research organisations, government agencies, funding bodies, and strategic partners across the Indo-Pacific region and beyond. She supports UKCEH's international engagement activities, identifies opportunities for new collaborations and funding, and helps translate scientific expertise into meaningful global partnerships.

Erica contributes to environmental science projects in the Aquatic Ecosystems group, covering topics such as water quality, nutrient management, and pollution. She works closely with scientists and external stakeholders to support the delivery of research with real-world environmental benefits, while promoting knowledge exchange and international cooperation. 

Erica is particularly interested in connecting science and stakeholder engagement, to address global environmental challenges and advance sustainable solutions through international collaboration.

She has a BSc in Ecological and Environmental Sciences with Management, and MSc by Research from the University of Edinburgh. Erica has previously worked at the University of Edinburgh, CNRS in France and as a freelance environmental consultant and project manager.
