Dr Lindsay F Banin is a plant and ecosystem scientist at the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology in Edinburgh. Her research focuses on the structure, function and dynamics of plant communities, with a particular focus on Southeast Asian forests. Her work is concerned with impacts of environmental change (land-use, climate, biogeochemical) on plant function, and how changes in the landscape affect the delivery of key ecosystem processes and services including carbon sequestration. Her work also emphasises evidence-based, equitable approaches to forest conservation and restoration.

She leads the FOR-RESTOR network which brings together international experts on SE Asian forest restoration. Lindsay also has a strong interest in statistical methods, applying these to experimental and monitoring design and analysis of field-based and image-based data.
