Professional summary

Research Interests

My role involves applying spatial techniques to explore some of the challenges facing ecology. I contribute my expertise to a variety of projects, including ASSIST and Landscape-scale species monitoring of agri-environment schemes, through spatial data analysis, modelling and visualisation using GIS, as well as field identification and survey techniques.

I use data products such as UKCEH Land Cover Maps and UKCEH Land Cover® plus: Crops maps to investigate spatio-temporal effects of land use and land cover, drawing in additional datasets derived from remote sensing imagery, field records and verified historical sources. I use both ArcGIS and R spatial packages in these processes day-to-day.

My field expertise includes identification of botanical species and birds, as well as developing identification of pollinating insects. Survey techniques include quadrats, transects, point counts, and using a GPS to locate and record data.
