David has a background in Chemistry and Atmospheric Sciences and works as an Environmental Data Scientist / Data Steward, working with scientists, application developers and data managers to improve data management, stewardship and science capabilities in UKCEH. He is interested in developing practical approaches to making data increasingly FAIR, including leading the technical implementation of the Data Stewardship Wizard tool for data management planning in UKCEH and the NERC Environmental Data Service, and workflows for integration-ready datasets. David is experienced in managing and developing automated workflows for the transformation and QA/QC of instrument-generated datasets.
David has experience of developing websites and interactive tools for the dissemination of scientific data, most recently using R and the Shiny web framework. He manages dataset ingestions into the NERC Environmental Information Data Centre (EIDC) and is co-lead of UKCEH’s Data Stewardship Team.
