Between 20-28 June, during London Climate Action Week 2026, our teams will be contributing to major conversations on climate resilience, nature finance, regenerative systems and biodiversity.

Monday 22 June

  • Summer of 1976 - 50th Anniversary (Wilson Chan, Amulya Chevuturi, Charlie Stratford and Gill Ormrod)
    Joint event from The Met Office, University of Reading, Newcastle University, the Royal Meteorological Society and the Co-Centre for Climate+. UKCEH science was highlighted at the event, including work by UKCEH's Wilson Chan presented during a talk by Prof Hayley Fowler (FRS).

  • Vodafone: When connectivity strengthens flood defences (Steven Cole)
    UKCEH worked with Vodafone and the River Severn Partnership to harness the mobile network as a virtual rain gauge. We compared the accuracy of data from the virtual rain gauges with data from our Floods & Droughts Research Infrastructure and HydroJULES projects.

Tuesday 23 June

  • Reset Connect, Excel London
    • Hear from Peatland Biogeochemist Chris Evans and Principal Scientist - Nature Recovery Richard Pywell at Reset Connect's Managing Land in a Changing Climate: Risks, Realities and Opportunities session (10.30am) in the Nature & Food Systems Hub.

      A discussion on how climate change is reshaping the future of food, farming and nature and what does science tell us about the risks and opportunities ahead.

  • Forest monitoring for communities, conservation and climate, UNEP event
    • This event brings together faith leaders, Indigenous Peoples, scientists, donors and policymakers to halt deforestation with the monitoring and finance that sustain forests, and the communities who steward them. Jenna Lawson will be presenting our work on Innovate 4 Nature.

Wednesday 24 June

  • Reset Connect, Excel London
    • Director of Science Kathryn Brown is moderating a panel at Reset Connect on Driving Global Regeneration and Resilience Through Investing in Nature (10.30am) in the Nature-Based Solutions Stage. A discussion on natural landscapes across the UK facing growing pressures from climate change.
