David is a Senior Design Researcher in the Digital Innovation team within the Digital Research Group at the UK Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Lancaster, UK.
His work uses a Research through Design approach, drawing on expertise in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Critical Documentary Practice (e.g. i-Docs). He is particularly interested in concepts like ‘polyphony‘ and ‘polyvocality‘ that recognise the value of considering multiple perspectives. He is a former MIT Open Doc Lab fellow, and has previously worked at leading creative / digital research labs in the UK, including Open Lab (Newcastle), BBC R&D (Salford), Pervasive Media Studio (Bristol) and Imagination (Lancaster). His current work focuses on co-designing sustainable, accessible ‘Digital Research Infrastructure’ (DRI) for Environmental Science.
