I am interested in the interacting effects of environmental and intrinsic factors on individuals’ life-histories and their consequences for processes at the population level. I am also interested in the application of behavioural and population ecology in conservation and policy work. Most of my research is on wild bird populations, using experimental, correlational and modelling approaches.
My current research focuses on understanding the effects of environmental, demographic and phenotypic variation as well as direct human impacts on the foraging ecology, movements and spatial distributions of seabirds. This work contributes to the identification and protection of key foraging areas for seabirds around breeding colonies and at their wintering grounds, and involves the use of a range of animal tracking devices and spatial analyses.
