Professional summary

Clare uses satellite data to monitor and understand the environment. Her main areas of research are mapping land cover and land cover change from satellite data and aerial photography. She has led production of several UK Land Cover Maps, including the 1990-2015 land cover change data set.

Clare is interested in exploring how to integrate remote sensing, with other data sets, to improve our understanding of the environment. This includes the use of remote sensing and machine learning methods to ‘scale-up’ ground observations. Clare has led projects for BEIS/DESNZ, Defra, the OEP, SEPA and Welsh Government.
