Scottish Freshwater Group
The Scottish Freshwater Group (SFG) provides a forum for its members to exchange information across disciplines and to promote awareness of current issues and research related to the freshwater environment in Scotland. The SFG holds a one-day meeting twice yearly in April and October at the University of Stirling. These meetings usually consist of seven or eight talks and a lunchtime poster display. They attract participants from academic research institutes, industry, government and non-government agencies who share a professional interest in the freshwater environment. The meetings are also attended by undergraduate and postgraduate students. Membership of the Group is open to anybody with an interest in freshwater ecosystems. Currently there are about 350 members. There is no subscription fee.
Meetings
If you wish to receive agendas for future SFG meetings, or give a talk or contribute either a poster or a theme for discussion, please contact Dr Laurence Carvalho at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology's Edinburgh research site.
All meetings are held at Stirling University, hosted by David Gilvear of the School of Biological and Environmental Sciences. Talks are usually held in Lecture Theatre 2V1 and poster demonstrations in Laboratory 2B147, both in the Cottrell Building. Lunch can be obtained in the refectory in the MacRobert Centre.
