Research interests

I am an ecologist and GIS specialist, undertaking ecological fieldwork, spatial modelling and analysis, and mapping of pollution and ecological data. I currently have several research interests:

  • Investigations of habitat quality and fragmentation and their impact on bird populations, particularly in woodland and arable environments
  • Modelling habitats (particularly woodland) using LiDAR and other remote-sensing tools
  • Farmland ecology, and the effects of agri-environmental schemes on mammals, birds and invertebrates

Brief CV

  • 2008 onwards: PhD on Marsh Tit ecology (Bournemouth University)
  • 1999 onwards: Ecologist and GIS Applications Specialist; a Higher Scientific Officer within the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology
  • 1999 MSc in Geographical Information Science, University of Edinburgh
