Current work
My current work has two main foci: on the one hand the scientific management of the large collaborative research project NitroEurope IP with more than 60 international partner institutions, and on the other hand, integrated assessment modelling of health and environmental impacts of air pollution and climate change.
In relation to NitroEurope, I am involved in a range of other activities addressing aspects of integrated research into the nitrogen cycle, such as the European Centre of the International Nitrogen Initiative and contributing to the European Nitrogen Assessment (ENA) Report. Work on integrated assessment modelling involves collaboration in the frame of the UK Integrated Assessment Model (UKIAM) and a research project underpinning the Scottish Government strategy Good Places, Better Health (GPBH) with the EDPHiS project.
Research interests
- Integrated assessment modelling of air pollution and climate change
- Atmospheric modelling (especially tropospheric ozone)
- Emission inventories
- Environmental impact assessment
- Health impact assessment
- Cost-effectiveness and cost-benefit assessment
