Dr David Boorman
Since April 2007, I have been head of Boorman Section, which falls within CEH's Water Programme. A personal research interest is in modelling river systems to represent the transport and processes within the river network. The QUESTOR modelling framework has been developed to facilitate this research.

Of equal interest is the linkage between these models and other areas of research: other physical domains (e.g. estuaries, lakes), other areas of freshwater science (e.g. aquatic ecology), other disciplines (e.g. agriculture, economics), and managers and policy-makers (e.g. the Water Framework Directive). During more than 26 years at Wallingford I have also contributed to design flood estimation (the Flood Studies Report), commercial software development (micro-FSR), hydrological soil classification (Hydrology Of Soil Types, HOST), and the National Water Archive. Most of my work has been UK-based, but I have worked in and visited other countries (e.g. Indonesia, Nepal, China), and I have established fruitful research links with a number of European institutes. Recent publicationsPlease see the NERC Open Research Archive.
