Speciality: Saltmarsh restoration, inter-tidal habitat surveys (sediments, invertebrates, shore birds).

Coastal ecologist focusing primarily on inter-tidal habitat restoration particularly; sediment dynamics; site development and the colonisation by flora and fauna; and assessing the success of restoration. Experienced at saltmarsh and inter-tidal habitat surveys.

First degree was in Geography (University of Derby). Studied for an MSc (part time) in Ecology and Management of the Natural Environment at the University of Bristol.

Current projects

These include:

Seasonal variation in nutrient and particulate matter fluxes between intertidal a habitat restoration site and adjacent estuary.

Abandoned reclamations as analogues for managed realignment; assessing time scales for saltmarsh restoration.

Assessing ecological function in a restored saltmarsh.

Dispersal mechanisms and colonisation of saltmarsh plants in saltmarsh restoration schemes - collaborative project with the University of Groningen, the Netherlands.

Saltmarsh invertebrates as indicators of restoration success - collaborative project with the University of Rennes, France.
