Helen joined UKCEH in January 2025 as a Data Scientist specialising in semantics. She is part of the Digital Assets team in the Digital Research group and is based in Lancaster. Her work is primarily focused on improving the semantic modelling of metadata for diverse research outputs such as datasets and methods. She also helps integrate semantic web technologies within other projects across the organisation.

Helen earned a PhD in Computer Science from Université Gustave Eiffel (Paris, France) in 2024. She carried out her research at the French National Institute of Geographic and Forest Information in collaboration with the French Naval Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service. Her thesis explores automatically extracting geographic information from texts to create georeferenced knowledge graphs.
