The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new trustees.
Ruth Davison joins as a fundraising trustee
Ruth Davison joined UKCEH as a trustee on 2 July. Ruth is a distinguished leader and strategist with over 25 years’ experience driving growth, innovation, and impact across the charity and purpose-led sectors. She has held senior roles at organisations including Crisis, Friends of the Earth, and Comic Relief—where she served as Interim CEO during the pandemic, increasing income to over £100m and leading major initiatives in sustainability and equity.
Ruth has built successful fundraising programmes from the ground up, developed multi-year strategies, and delivered transformative change. She has served on the boards of Oxfam GB, Greenpeace UK, and currently leads fundraising as a Trustee for the UK’s National Emergencies Trust. Now working across sectors, Ruth advises charities, grant-makers, and family offices on sustainability and impact, while contributing thought leadership on social justice and leadership.
Paul Monks joins as a science trustee
Paul Monks joins UKCEH as a trustee from 1 October. Paul is a Professor in Atmospheric Chemistry and Earth Observation Science at the University of Leicester and has a broad background in science advice, latterly as the Chief Scientific Adviser to the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero. He currently is also the chair of the British Geological Survey and the Henry Royce Institute.
Chair of Trustees, Judith Batchelar OBE, said: “We are delighted to welcome Ruth and Paul as trustees. These appointments represent an important milestone for UKCEH, enhancing our governance and leadership as we continue to address the environmental challenges of our time.”
