UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) is committed to protecting your personal data and being transparent about how it is used. This Privacy Notice sets out how we collect, use, share and protect your personal data, and your rights in relation to it, in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

This notice applies to all individuals whose personal data we process, including user of our website, job applicant, project partner, supplier & customer, donor, and office visitor. Specific details for each group are provided in the relevant sections of this notice.

Who we are

UKCEH is a registered Charity in England & Wales (number 1185618) and in Scotland (number SC049849), and a registered Company Limited by Guarantee in England & Wales (number 11314957).  

The Centre owns two registered trading subsidiaries; the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology Enterprise, a company limited by shares (number 12251749), and the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology International Limited, a company limited by shares (number 15670898). The registered office of the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology is at the Maclean Building, Benson Lane, Crowmarsh Gifford, Wallingford, Oxfordshire, OX10 8BB, UK. 

For the purpose of this privacy notice, UKCEH and its subsidiaries are joint controllers. 

Legal bases for processing

We process personal data under one or more of the following lawful bases, as defined by Article 6 of the UK GDPR:

  • Consent – where you have given clear consent for us to process your data.
  • Contract – to fulfil a contract or to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract.
  • Legal obligation – where we are required to comply with legal or regulatory obligations.
