Amanda has worked at UKCEH since 2004, predominantly on the development and delivery of greenhouse gas accounting in the land-use sector. She is the lead scientist for the team producing annual estimates of sources and sinks of greenhouse gases in the land use, land use change and forestry (LULUCF) sector of the national greenhouse gas inventory. This inventory is required under national and international commitments (the UK Climate Change Act and the Paris Agreement of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change). She is a qualified UNFCCC reviewer of greenhouse gas inventories, specializing in the LULUCF sector.

Amanda's research interests are in the spatial modelling of land-use change, greenhouse gas emissions from land-use and land-use change, grassland and forest management, and interdisciplinary approaches to investigating human-environmental impacts. Her current work focusses on the contribution of LULUCF-related activities to Net Zero GHG mitigation targets in the UK and abroad and strategic development of this work area within UKCEH. Amanda is a scientific adviser to the UK government on the LULUCF sector and related science, and a provider of policy analysis/advice to the UK and devolved governments, the Committee on Climate Change and local authorities. She has also been the UK representative on such matters at national, European and international (IPCC) meetings.
