CEH Scientist Tim Sparks revived phenology, the background science behind “Springwatch 2005”, back in 1998. Phenology is the recording and study of periodical events such as flowering, breeding and migration in relation to climate and environmental factors.

Tim and Claire Carvell, both based at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology research site at Monks Wood, England, were recently interviewed for the Radio 4 series “Nature: The Spring Trilogy” currently being broadcast on Monday evenings.

The final programme “The Future of Spring” can be heard at 9 p.m. on Monday 13th June.
