Chris Huhne, Member of Parliament for Eastleigh and Shadow Environment Food and Rural Affairs Secretary for the Liberal Democrats, visited our Dorset site on Tuesday 12th September.

Chris had the opportunity to chat informally with several scientists about their work, the future Science Plan and progress in restructuring the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH).

Chris spoke in detail to three scientists about ongoing projects. Bill Beaumont described our Fish Ecology research group's work on salmon populations and climate change on the River Frome; James Bullock gave an overview of past and present work on landscape and habitat restoration including interaction with social scientists collaborating on the FarmCAT project; finally Chris Reading of our Population and Conservation Ecology team explained the benefits of long-term work on toad populations in providing evidence of climate change.
