About UKCEH Enterprise

The UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (UKCEH) wholly owns a trading subsidiary, the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology Enterprise Limited. Our subsidiary commercialises UKCEH intellectual property and delivers research contracts in support of UKCEH’s ambition and charitable purpose.


Directors and Officers

Linda Naylor
Linda is the Chair and Non-Executive Director of UKCEH Enterprise Limited. Linda was previously Managing Director of Oxford University Innovation, the University of Oxford’s technology commercialisation company. Prior to this she spent over 25 years in industry with ICI, Zeneca and Monsanto involved in the technical and commercial management of developing bioproduct.
Alison is Managing Director of UKCEH Enterprise Limited. Alison is the Executive Director of Partnerships & Impact at UKCEH. Before joining UKCEH Alison was Deputy Executive Chair of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), part of UK Research and Innovation. Alison works across UKCEH, external partners and funders to ensure our science is accessible, used and makes a tangible difference to people across the UK and internationally.
Doug is the Executive Director of UKCEH Enterprise Limited. Doug is the Science Director of UKCEH and is responsible for providing scientific direction for the organisation. He is a member of the UKCEH Science and Executive Boards.
Ian Reid
Ian is the Non-Executive Director of UKCEH Enterprise Limited. Ian is a chartered engineer and physicist whose business career has spanned diverse technologies, with 24 years in board and leadership roles, including in QinetiQ during and after their privatisation. As well as working in innovation at the industry-academia interface, Ian founded Trace Element Associates to support tech spin-outs, he sits on Strathclyde University’s Audit and Risk Committee and chairs a photonics startup.
Sam is the Company Secretary for UKCEH Enterprise. Sam leads the finance aspects of UKCEH’s operations. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales. Sam was previously Deputy Chief Financial Officer at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust, and before that he spent 13 years at BP plc in various finance roles.
Alison Cavey
Non Executive Director
Alison is a senior strategy and innovation advisor with 25+ years' experience with new ventures, corporates, universities and public sector agencies creating and growing value-driven enterprises. Her career spans roles as Interim MD, Non-Executive Director, consultant and mentor to 30+ innovation-focused agencies and 100+ start-ups and SMEs. Alison is currently an independent business mentor /consultant and is Non-Executive Director for a Cranfield Uni spin-out and Advisor to a US-based water tech start-up
