The Natural and Environmental Research Council (NERC) is a partner organisation within UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (CEH) is part of NERC and is the UK's Centre of Excellence for integrated research in terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and their interaction with the atmosphere. There is the plan for CEH to move outside the public sector to become a not for profit research organisation with charitable status. We will continue to be funded as now by a mixture of NERC and competitively won income.
