About the role
CEH Computer Support (CCS) is responsible for all IT support for both scientific and administrative staff across the four CEH sites. The Lancaster site is looking for an IT Support Engineer to join the local CCS team.
As IT Support Engineer you will advise CEH staff on IT queries and solve basic network troubleshooting. You will record IT issues reported to the IT Service Desk and resolve them or escalate to senior staff where appropriate.
You will also contribute to the provision of IT support including PC Operating Systems, Office 365 applications, desktop Office applications, videoconferences and Skype.
You will be able to demonstrate effective IT support skills in a helpdesk environment and to manage a number of concurrent tasks, prioritizing and escalating as required.
You will have a good awareness of IT security including Sophos anti-virus and data encryption. You will also have excellent troubleshooting and problem solving skills alongside PC build experience and knowledge of PC components.
