Does biodiversity weaken the effects of climate change?

The ROBIN project, investigating the role of biodiversity in climate change mitigation in Latin America, recently came to a close after starting in 2011. The Centre for Ecology & Hydrology's Dr Terry Parr coordinated the project, and presented its findings at a recent meeting at the European Parliament (see video below).

Worms, soil and pollution - how 'nature's ploughs' keep our earth healthy

I recently went to speak with Dr Elma Lahive and Alice Horton, two of the scientists who work in the ecotoxicology group here at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology. As well as learning about the effects of pollutants on worms and soil health, I also found out why worms have that strange bump on their back and just why they were Darwin's favourite species!
