Mixture Toxicity Analysis Tools: The MixTox Model
The download files on this page comprise a practical guide and manual for the statistical analysis of the toxic effect of chemical mixtures as described by Jonker and Svendsen et al. Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry, Vol. 24, No. 10, pp. 2701–2713, 2005.
The “MixToxModel documentation.pdf” accompanies the above paper and the spreadsheet files ‘CA_explanation.xls’, ‘IA_explanation.xls’ and ‘MixToxModules.xls’.
The “Explanation” spreadsheet files are provided for illustrative purposes, for users to familiarize themselves with the principles behind the analysis. While the analysis itself can be run within these Excel sheets it is greatly facilitated by the Visual Basic functions provided in the module file. These Visual Basic functions can, if required, be downloaded as an Add-In to be provided on this web page soon (‘MixToxFunctions.xla’).
The documentation text focuses on the (eco)toxicological issues and practical execution of the calculations, nevertheless, the statistical aspects mentioned in the discussion should not be overlooked.
Happy analysing,
Martijs and Claus.
PS These files are still working documents and will change as we improve them. So check for new versions until we say we think we have the final version. Also any comments and advice for improvement are always welcome, e-mail Dr Claus Svendsen.
