Spatial and Temporal Trends in Heavy Metal Accumulation in Mosses in Europe (1990-2005)

Harry Harmens, David Norris and the participants of the moss survey, Programme Coordination Centre for the ICP Vegetation
ISBN: 9781855312395, 2008, £0.00

Since 1990/1991 naturally-occurring mosses have been sampled at a European scale at five-yearly intervals as biomonitors for the deposition of ten heavy metals from the atmosphere. Country-specific temporal trends and the main polluted areas have been identified and changes in heavy metal concentrations in mosses in Europe between 1990 and 2005 summarised. This report is for scientists, policy makers and others with an interest in atmospheric heavy metal pollution.
