Provisional Atlas of Longhorn beetles (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae) of Britain
P F G Twinn & P T Harding
ISBN 1870393400, 96pp, £5.00
This is the first detailed review of the status and distribution of the native and naturalised longhorn beetles of Britain. Longhorns are handsome and mostly relatively large beetles. Many are rare and declining, though there are also some species that are pests of forestry or of sawn timber.
The Atlas contains 21 pages of introductory text, including a checklist and table of nomenclature. These are followed by 3 maps showing the coverage achieved by the recording scheme, and distribution maps for 59 species. Each distribution map is accompanied by information on ecology, threat status, and sources of further information. A bibliography and index are also included.
