Tim Booth
Current workI work as a member of the NERC Environmental Bioinformatics Centre (NEBC), a group that incorporates partners from the University of Manchester and the European Bioinformatics Institute (EBI). I am specifically responsible for the cataloguing and curation of molecular biology "omic" data resulting from NERC-funded projects, as part of the CEH Environmental Information Data Centre (EIDC) remit. I also work with individual researchers and groups to help them manage and analyse their data as part of the NERC Biomolecular Analysis Facility. |
I develop software tools including Handlebar, GenQuery2, Exchanger and the EnvBase data catalogue. I have also been actively involved in our flagship Bio-Linux project throughout my time at the NEBC. Full information and free downloads for these are available via the website. Research interestsThough not a researcher, I publish papers relating to my work in bioinformatics and data management. Of particular interest are the areas of standards, semantics and ontologies for integrating and searching data, as well as software for collaborative research. Brief CVI graduated from The University of York in 2002 with a B.Eng. in Computer Science. After a brief period working in investment banking I joined CEH in August, 2003. Selected publicationsPlease see NERC Open Research Archive and the NEBC website. |
